In the beginning…
Burns Mechanical, established in 1998 by Joe Burns, began as a small mechanical construction company with five employees based in Exton, Pennsylvania. At that time, PPL (NYSE: PPL), a Fortune 300 utility company headquartered in Allentown, Pennsylvania, was interested in acquiring a successful mechanical company which was well established in the Philadelphia area. By 1999, PPL became aware of Joe Burns' reputation—one built on strong local relationships, professional integrity, and the depth of his technical knowledge. PPL quickly developed a confidence in Joe and his startup company, and acquired Burns Mechanical in April of 1999 as a wholly-owned subsidiary.
Growth…
In October 1999, to complement the construction focus of its company, Burns Mechanical purchased DVY, Inc., an established mechanical service company in Horsham, PA. DVY offered a technically seasoned team of leaders, engineers and technicians. The two companies consolidated in the Horsham location, and remain there today. Since then, we have further enhanced our team by hiring the industry's top personnel who are committed to offering quality service, building solid client relationships, and delivering exceptional project value. We have added our own fully-equipped fabrication shop in the Philadelphia area, and our sales are forecasted to be $50M in 2007. Our staff is comprised of 25 office and administrative personnel, and 100-160 construction craft and service technicians who are members of Steamfitters and Plumbers Unions of Philadelphia, and Plumbers and Pipefitters Union of Central and South Jersey.
In the future…
As a leading mechanical company, Burns Mechanical will continue to be best in class. We know what large companies and institutions value: quality workmanship, on-time completion within budget, a commitment to safety, and a high standard of integrity. We understand and we will do the right thing.
